Grizedale forest
1 hour sound performance

A performance held in Grizedale Forest using bio acoustic measuring equipment to translate the electrical activity of photosynthesis within a group of forest trees into sound.

Using adapted galvonic response meters built specially for the performance, sine wave generators, softsynths and computer hardware. 8 trees were each assigned a channel on mixing desk and mixed live during the performance. The work is documented in the video The Grizedale Experience.

The work was featured on the BBC Radio 4 Home Truths, the BBC Today Programme and covered by The Guardian.
